TMJ CBCT Imaging

The Temporomandibular Joint is the joint of the jaw. Disorders of the jaw are very common but varied in their causes. The complex surrounding anatomy offers clues critical to diagnosis and treatment of the TM joint.

Imaging of the TMJ becomes an important tool in the process of diagnosing and treatment planning. Views of the TMJ can capture the mechanics and pathology necessary in understanding the specific needs of the patient. This type of imaging comes with great ease for the patient. Images are captured in seconds, sitting in an upright position.

The joint can be captured in several different jaw positions such as open, closed, at rest, or with an orthotic in place. These views are captured and presented both lateral and in an anterior-posterior sectional views to insure that nothing is missed. An expert Oral Radiologist can provide a detailed interpretation of these views.
